GREEN DEAL FOR HOME OWNERS

Many homes in the UK are poorly insulated, have inadequate heating systems, generate costly heating bills as a result. In difficult times, people struggle to afford expensive new products such as boilers, new heating systems, insulation and new energy installations.

At the same time, energy prices are being hiked up at alarming rates, causing distress among many households. Heating your home is becoming a very expensive necessity.

How can the Green Deal Help?

This scheme lets you pay for some or all of the improvements over time through your electricity bill. Repayments will be no more than what a typical household should save in energy costs.

In 2013, the Government will roll out the Green Deal. Most Green Deal improvements are expected to reduce heating bills because of relatively lower electricity, gas or oil use. Repayments are made through your electricity bill – because everyone has one of those.

To start, you’ll need a Green Deal Assessment.  Many different organisations are authorised to do this. For help finding a Green Deal Assessor, call the Energy Saving Advice Service (England and Wales) on 0300 123 1234 or visit  www.Direct.gov.uk/Greendeal.

How can IDM help?

IDM is preparing to become a Green Deal Approved Installer within the next few months, so that we will be qualified to install energy efficient measures, claimable as part of the Green Deal Assessment.
